New research that has been compiled by Continental Tyres reveals the shocking truth about the number of drivers who are not changing their tyres regularly enough.
A survey of around 4,000 drivers found that one in ten were driving on tyres with a tread depth below the legal limit. Continental also found that four-in-ten drivers had never checked the state of their tyres and nearly a third had no idea how to measure tread depth.
This is shocking news for van insurance customers and it is vital to keep your no claims bonus, that you regularly check the condition of your tyres to avoid getting in to an accident.
“One in five drivers polled have suffered a blow-out and three-quarters of us understand that low tyre tread depth causes accidents in wet weather yet we still do not recognise the risks we take by not checking and replacing tyres more regularly. People just don't think about it enough or they don't know what to look for,” said Tim Bailey from Continental.
