As the recession deepens van insurance customers have been urged to exploit all legal means of saving money.
According to an insurance firm they could consider such moves as doing away with unnecessary expenses.
Ensuring that one takes out the right insurance cover would help them should an unforeseen event requiring them to make a claim occur.
They were further advised to consider cutting down fuel costs by using the van only when essentially needed and in the most economical way.
Adopting eco-friendly driving will also help in minimising cost, it said, adding that this would include such simple steps as accelerating and decelerating smoothly, as well as changing up gears just when it’s comfortable enough to do so.
In a separate development commercial motorists, including van drivers, in West Yorkshire have been warned to avoid using their mobile phones or failing to wear seatbelts while driving.
This is because the Keighley Neighbourhood Police Team (NPT) has announced the continuation of their crackdown on erring motorists on the area’s roads.
