It has been suggested that businesses could make a significant difference to the number of van insurance claims made in the UK.
According to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (Rospa), firms need to start making the reduction of road traffic collisions among their workforce a key health and safety aim.
It highlighted figures that estimate between a quarter and a third of all crashes involve someone driving for work. This means 200 road users are killed or receive serious personal injuries each week in Great Britain as the result of employment – relates accidents.
Roger Bibbings, Rospa’s safety advisor: “Being killed or injured while driving as part of one's job is the biggest risk faced by most workers.”
Currently, the organization is discussing what can be done to reduce work – related accidents at its 74th Road Safety Congress in Blackpool.
Firms who reduce the number of road accidents their drivers are involved in could end up making dramatic savings on van insurance.
