All kinds of things can happen when holidaying in a country that is new to you, your travel buddies or family, and The Daily Telegraph has taken it upon itself to seek out, and list 10 of the strangest travel insurance claims that have been made by British holidaymakers in the last year.
First off was a British pensioner who was taking his holiday on a cruise ship, and who we can only speculate, lost his false teeth over the side of the boat while singing to the ocean. He went on to put forward a claim to his travel insurers for replacement dentures under the category of “lost baggage.”
Next was two holidaymakers in Devon who came back from a day enjoying the countryside to find their cars paintwork had been damaged as a result of a heard of cows who had licked it, they went on to file a claim to cover the damage. In another case, two children holidaying in Cornwall decided their parents video camera was not safe from thieves and buried it in the sand in order to keep it safe. After they came back from swimming they realized they had forgotten where they had buried it resulting in another, shockingly successful claim.
Another individual had to put forward a claim for damage to their vehicle when a deer headbutted the windscreen after the yellow tax disk on view in the front caught its eye.
The fifth case found, was a young British traveler who ended up distracted by the sudden appearance of a number of women in bikinis, broke his nose as he wandered into the side of a bus shelter in Athens. His insurance company paid for all his hospital bills.
6th, a couple who were traveling round Malaysia came home to their booked lodge to discover that monkeys had stolen their clothing and scattered them all over the surrounding rainforest. Thankfully, their insurance company paid for their trouble. Next, a family camping holiday in Wales ended up destroyed by a parachutist from an airbase located nearby landed on their tent, crushing their equipment and lodgings. Sadly their insurer rejected their claims.
7th, a skier who found herself kitted up and on the way to an Alpine ski resort found herself met with very little snow. To make up for this she claimed for the price of the skis she had purchased before she left Britain. Her claims were also rejected. Another holidaymaker in Sri Lanka found themselves in need of hospital treatment after a coconut fell on her head while she was using the tree as shade to read without suffering the heat. Luckily her insurer covered her medical expenses.
Lastly, a brides perfect Carribean wedding was destroyed after her dress caught fire on one of the surrounding barbeques. To stop the fire, her groom picked her up and threw her into the sea. Luckily the couple had planned ahead, taking out wedding cover, and were reimbursed for the ruined wedding outfit.
