One in six Britons (16%) will choose a cheap holiday this year according to the latest research on travel trends from American Express Insurance Services.
American Express Insurance Services asked a GB representative sample of 2,000 adults what was the major influencer when it comes to choosing their main holiday this year and the findings suggest that cheaper holidays are becoming a hit.
However, insurers are also concerned that Britons trying to save money on their vacations are likely to pay alot more if they fail to take out quality travel insurance.
Additionally, statistics from ABTA show that the credit crunch has not discouraged Britons from taking their summer holidays this year. The recent freezing winter weather has seen Britons even more eager to take a break and go abroad for some well deserved time out.
Many are said to be willing to venture to unknown destinations rather than forgoing their much needed summer holidays. Reports further suggest that this has resulted in a number of trends appearing, in which many people now opt to travel outside of Europe to get more value for money.
Only one per cent of Britons say that they would consider an environmentally friendly holiday this year, which means that for many, finances are given more priority than the environment.
