More families opt for citybreaks - 03/10/2007
|
Increasing numbers of British families are jetting off for short citybreaks, travel website takethefamily.com has said.
A spokesperson for the site also attributed the rise to the low-cost airline revolution, which has seen so-called 'no frills' airlines such as EasyJet and Ryanair offering ever-cheaper flights.
Travel insurance should, however, always be taken out by holiday makers - no matter how short the stay.
Given that travel insurance is only needed when the unexpected happens, the amount of time spent at the destination should not affect the decision on whether to take out cover or not.
A spokesperson for takethefamily.com said that the cheap flights had "allowed parents to make their own decisions of when they go and how long they go for - and they are no longer restricted to the seven or 14-days holiday options."
According to Official Airline Guide research, there were an additional two million low-cost airline seats available to travellers in January 2007 than in the same period the previous year.
