Research by Saga home insurance has shown that the average cost of replacing items stolen from a garden can cost around £378 pounds, Saga are now urging people to insure that there home insurance covers item in the garden.
Saga home insurance have said "Saga Home Insurance offers a Garden cover add-on for customers for just an extra £30, to cover plants, shrubs, vegetables, turf and lawns, rockeries, tools, equipment and furniture. The policy will also cover damage caused by theft, damage by smoke, fire, vandals and wild animals."
Halifax have come out with a similar message saying that garden thefts increase by 63 percent during the summer months last year, with the costs of replacing stolen item increasing by 12 per cent to more than £400 pounds.
