A woman who was seriously injured in a car accident back in 2004 has finally won public liability compensation from the council which has been held responsible for the accident.
The woman was hit by a taxi while trying to cross the road; the accident left her with a fractured neck as well as some internal injuries. She later appealed against a ruling which had declared her ineligible for the claim, which had stated that the accident was a result of her own carelessness.
Giving their verdict on the appeal, the judges stated that the council was in fact to blame, since the woman’s vision had been obscured by the overgrown bushes, whose maintenance was the council’s duty. The council was therefore ordered to compensate her for her injury.
The total amount of compensation she is owed is yet to be assessed.
If you have suffered an injury in which a public liability claim could be made, do not hesitate in seeking legal help with your claim.
