Students worrying about falling in debt may like to know that they will now be offered tips on better credit card management
The charity, National Skills Academy for Financial Services (NSAFS) has stated that it will provide students with advice and information to help them out with their financial management.
Regional directors at the charity stated that it will be visiting colleges and freshers’ events during September and October as an attempt to encourage students to make a “Money Pledge” – a vow to manage their funds responsibly.
It will invite students from the selected colleges to sit in on tutorial sessions which will offer tips on how they can manage their finances and will assist them in areas of financial concern.
Commenting on the move, Sylvia Perrins, chief executive of NSAFS, said: "The current economic environment has highlighted the importance of ensuring our nation is more 'money-minded'."
She added: "Colleges have an important role in shaping the future. Providing their students with an opportunity to become more financially astute is fundamental to our individual and national prospects."
With the current economic crisis leaving graduates as another statistic in the unemployment rate, students are being urged to control their finances to avoid having to struggle in the long run.
