Those over 50 are more sensible in their use of credit cards, research has found.
Figures from finance provider, Saga, have found that the over 50’s are more sensible when it comes to using their cards despite previous research suggesting that they use their credit cards a lot.
The firm also found that the over 50’s are more likely to own a credit card with 49 per cent owning more than one card.
However, 69 per cent of them stated that there were not concerned about how this could affect their credit rating, suggesting that those over 50stick to their credit card repayments and avoid exceeding their credit limit.
Chief executive of Saga Group, Andrew Goodsell said: "The over-50s are much wiser when it comes to using credit cards, not exceeding their credit limit or missing payment deadlines."
Meanwhile, Barclaycard has launched a new online credit card which enables its customers to manage their credit limits and make balance transfers over the internet.
Chief executive of Barclaycard UK, Amer Sajed said: “mybarclaycard is set to be the UK’s leading online account servicing website. It will make our customers’ lives a little easier by providing them with the control to track and manage their spending with Barclaycard.”
