Students heading off to university this summer are being advised to make a copy of their credit card numbers. The advice, from card provider Saga, is designed to protect students from being unable to make transactions if they were to lose their cards or fall victim to credit card fraud. The suggestion comes after research by the company showed that one in three students fall victim to crime whilst at university.
Andrew Goodsell, executive chairman of Saga Group, said: "For many students, making new friends and socialising will be higher on their agenda than being security conscious. This could make them easy targets for criminals. A few simple security measures however, can greatly reduce the risk of them becoming a victim."
Alongside that the credit card company are also advising students to take extra care keeping any valuables hidden away and try to be on their guard whilst what is most likely there first year away from home.
