Credit Cards -
Lose sight, lose security! - 23/04/2008

When it comes to the security of our credit cards, too many of us have a relaxed approach and the consequences are proving catastrophic. Some seven million Brits are taking huge risks when it comes to our flexible friends, when making purchases it seems we are too preoccupied to pay attention to its whereabouts.
Allowing your card to leave your line of sight while making a purchase is a sure fire way to contribute to the pockets of the card cloners and skimmers, a mistake that will come back for more and more of your hard earned cash. Steve Willey head of credit cards for Moneysupermarket.com informs us that “Card cloning and skimming is a multi-billion pound crime” and yet “so many people seem to be blasé about it”.
Interestingly he comments that it is the “younger cardholders” who “are more lax”, “with 23 per cent of cardholders aged 40 or under” reported to have allowed this to happen; a sharp contrast to the meagre “13 per cent of the older generation”.
