Car Insurance - Dancing drives up your premium - 25/11/2008

It may sound comical but it has been unearthed that the real reason John Sergeant suddenly left Strictly Come Dancing is that he just wouldn’t have been able to afford the car insurance premiums if he changed his job title. Shocking as it may appear but the reality is there are different risks associated with different jobs and these are reflected in the price you pay for your premiums. John Sergeant found that if he changed his job title from journalist to professional dancer his car insurance premium would rise by some £124.75.

Search site Confused.com has carried out various studies and they too have noted that the difference between an entertainer’s premium and that of a singer could be as vast as £223. Will Thomas, the head of insurance at the site says that “it is certainly true that using different ways to describe a person’s occupation could dramatically reduce their premiums”. He was mindful to add that “it is important not to confuse being savvy with being dishonest.
