There is good news for US based bike insurance customers with the news that bike theft figures continue to trend downwards. According to a national body, the number of bikes reported stolen has dropped nearly 5% over the last two years.
The National Insurance Crime Bureau, which is backed by many of the countries' biggest insurers, said that in 2008, the number of motorcycle thefts stood at 60,763, which is down from 62,206 the year previously and 63,828 in 2006.
The report found that the highest number of bike thefts occurred in the Summer months, with the lowest totals coming in December and January when most bikers have the vehicles locked up in the garage because of cold weather.
Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha were amongst the most desirable for bike thieves according to the results. Despite the small decline in thefts it is still vital for all riders to take care of their insurance cover, especially as we approach the summer months.
