Van Insurance - Van insurer cleans vans and raises money for charity

Van insurance company Budget Van Insurance held a fund raising day in Basingstoke where a bevvy of female models were on hand to scrub clean tradesmen's dirty vans for free in the name of charity.

Budget Van Insurance worked in conjuction with building firm Jewson, using their prime location in Bell Road on the Daneshill Industrial Estate to spend a whole day offering free buffing and polishing to the van drivers of Basingstoke.

The day proved a big hit with queues of builders, plumbers and gardeners trailing round the block as they lined up in their vans for a much needed scrub down by the girls of Basingstoke. The all female cleaning team spent four hours cleaning the vans, hoping to put an end to the myth that tradesmen are always travelling around in dirty and scruffy vans.

Mnveer Arkan, from Budget Van Insurance, said: "It's not every day that a group of stunning girls offer to give your van a free wash - and judging by the queues, people were keen to make the most of this opportunity.

"Van drivers often get stick for having dirty vans, but the ones we have seen today are now not only sparkling clean, they are being driven by workmen with huge grins on their faces.

"We hope to try this at other branches of Jewson around the UK. We chose Basingstoke as the first branch because they were very receptive to the idea."

As the day proved a hit, with £1000 raised for the NSPCC, the Budget Van Insurance team could be coming to other towns all over the country to offer free van cleaning and spruce up the nations van drivers.

While the actual van cleaning was free, the van drivers were invited to make an optional donation of any amount to a charitable cause, in this case, the NSPCC.

£500 was made in donations from the eager van drivers, which Budget Van Insurance agreed to match, taking the total amount of money donated up to £1000.

With hundreds of vans now gleaming on the streets of Basingstoke and a substantial amount of money raised for children in suffering in the UK the day was considered a success all round and both Jewson and Budget Van Insurance would like to take the initiative nationwide.

It is hoped that the day will become a regular, nationwide experience where van drivers can go to get their van cleaned by some beautiful women and raise a little money for those less fortunate. The whole country would benefit from this scheme as our roads would be populated by proud van drivers in sparkling clean vans, with the drivers in a good mood after their fun van cleaning experience.
