Commercial vehicle drivers have been warned by Oxfordshire Police to make sure they keep the contents of their vehicle safe at all times after a spate of thefts.
The police say that the thefts appear to be being committed by opportunists and the losses include a stereo and various personal effects.
To avoid a potential claim on your van insurance the police offered a number of tips including removing all items of value while your vehicle is unoccupied and making sure that the van is kept locked whenever possible.
“We urge motorists to remove all their valuables, particularly laptops, satellite navigators and money from their vehicles whenever the vehicle is unoccupied. Most car criminals are opportunists and are unlikely to break into an empty vehicle. It is also advisable to park in a well lit area and to set the car alarm / immobiliser if the vehicle has one,” said Det. Sgt. Matt Jarman.
