Drivers of the Volkswagen Camper van in Halifax, West Yorkshire have been warned that these vehicles are being targeted by thieves, who want to remodel their own vehicles in the area, according to reports from local newspaper, the Halifax Courier.
Lee Elmore and Rebecca Holden, both camper van owners are warning other drivers of the model to be ‘vigilant’ and ensure that they have adequate van insurance cover on their vehicles, after they had the windscreen stolen from their own vans.
Ms Holden said that she believed that the windscreens had been taken by someone, “who knew exactly what they wanted.”
Her partner, Mr Elmore said: it was ‘appalling’, that someone had stolen his windscreen to better their own vehicle.
Speaking to the newspaper, he also said: "It is a shock and it is upsetting to think someone has stolen from our pride and joy to do up their own.”
Fortunately for the pair they were both covered by their insurance policies; however they admitted that some of the stolen equipment of their vans were “rare and not easy to get hold of".
