A woman was lucky to escape with her life when a van lost control and careered into her house, crashing through her front window and into her living room.
Jean Moore was upstairs at the time of the accident and says that she thanks her lucky stars that she happened to be upstairs and not sitting in the living room.
It appears that the elderly driver, a man in his seventies, had been turning into a small road nearby when he misjudged the turn and ended up crashing through The fence of Mrs Moore's neighbour and then into Mrs Moore's house.
Amazingly no one was hurt, as Mrs Moore was upstairs at the time and her husband was away on a fishing trip. The driver of the vehicle escaped with a few cuts and bruises which an ambulance crew called to the scene treated, but he was not taken to hospital.
Mr Moore, on returning home from his fishing trip could not believe the scene which met his eyes. As he pulled into his road he saw the van lodged in the front of his house, surrounded by rubble.
He said: “There are now cracks running through the whole of the house, but what can you do, we have to wait and see what the insurance company say.
“My wife had a lucky escape if she had been downstairs it could have been a different outcome.
“We have no idea how long it is going to take to repair- they may have to knock the house down and start again.”
The Moore's are currently staying at their son's house while they wait for their insurance to come through. It is unclear whether they can claim on the driver's van insurance.
