Van Insurance - Eco-friendly insurance scheme launched - 22/07/2008

A new eco-friendly insurance scheme had been launched by car and van insurance expert MORE TH>N.

The service, which is dubbed Green Wheels, will hope to encourage a greener, more efficient and economical driving among motorists in the UK.

Drivers will be able to understand how their driving style affects the environment through the information they are furnished with on their rate of acceleration, breaking and the number of short journeys they make.

The firm also hopes to change motorists’ driving behaviour and lower the carbon footprint of 31 million cars on the country’s roads.

Green Wheels is based on a Green Box technology device which hooks up on the vehicle’s Engine Management System and reads motorist’s driving style.

The information is then sent to MORE TH>N’s new website, where drivers could have access to personalised reports on their driving style to make their driving more eco-friendly.

“Green wheels is great news for anyone interested in taking more responsibility for their own carbon ‘tyre-print’,” product director at the firm, Dowsham Humzah said.
