Van drivers have been voted the safest motorists on UK roads, according to a new study.
The survey from Tesco said that insurance claims suggest that fewer claims are made on van insurance than other kinds of policies.
In addition one-in-five people using vans, according to the research, have had extra training sessions in their vehicles in order to make them more capable drivers.
Speaking for the firm, Allan Burns commented that the traditional view of van drivers is misinformed.
He said that although van drivers were usually stereotyped as rogues of the road, their records, on the contrary, suggest that they were actually very safe and that they deserve better insurance rate.
Not long ago, women van drivers were also found to be comparatively safer than their male counterpart, and were, as a result, enjoying cheaper premiums than men.
Meanwhile, in order to enhance health and safety while behind the wheel, Direct Line for Business has urged van drivers to avoid lighting up cigarette while driving.
