An insurer has updated its travel insurance policies to ensure holidaymakers travelling to the Channel Islands are covered for healthcare, it has been revealed.
Axa has announced that it has updated its policies to enable customers who are travelling to the Channel Islands to be covered for healthcare costs in the event of falling ill or being injured.
Head of travel Alison Patrick of Axa, said: "It's important for consumers and business travellers to be aware of these changes and ensure that they have cover if they are travelling to or from the Channel Islands this year"
"All customers that have policies underwritten by AXA can feel safe in knowing that should the unfortunate happen while they are away, they will be covered for the cost of medical treatment."
Meanwhile, holidaymakers are being advised to ensure they purchase travel insurance according to its cover rather than price.
Travel insurance provider, RIAS, warned that those without the correct policy may risk facing hefty bills.
Janet Connor, managing director of RIAS, said: "When buying insurance consumers should think of a policy as something they need to tailor, rather than buying a one-size-fits-all product.
It is essential to be familiar with the terms of the policy in order to know exactly what cover you are getting for your money."
She added that the insurance is just as important as having vaccinations and exchanging currency.
