Travellers’ attempt to choose a green holiday is often frustrated by the lack of sufficient information from tour operators, it has been found.
A recent survey revealed that at least eight out of 10 people would rather opt for a green holiday if properly guided.
Nearly three-quarters of participants in the poll complained the tour operators were often not forthcoming each time they sought information regarding the environmental costs of their vacations.
While six-in-ten said they would offset carbon emissions from their holidays, many others responded that they were willing to take fewer holidays in order to reduce pollution.
Financial worries and concern for the environment are among factors that would compel people to cut back on their long-haul trips this year, explained an expert.
Meanwhile, travellers have been reminded to take out travel insurance policies that would assist them in saving on costs just as the risk of environmental pollution is greatly reduced.
