Travel Insurance - Advice for summer holidays - 13/08/2008

It is estimated that millions of Brits travel abroad without any travel insurance at all. In an attempt to safe money for other expenses many set off on their holidays without any cover to protect themselves.

There are a great many accidents and unexpected expenses that could occur not only during your holiday buy even before you step foot on a plane. Travel insurance policies today can cover you for a holiday cancellation, which could come in handy if you fall sick before your getaway, lose your job or have a family emergency.

A European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) can help you if you become sick and need medical attention abroad. This guarantees you medical assistance.

In this climate of financial uncertainty, it is understandable that Brits will want to cut corners and save the pennies on every purchase made. It is sensible however to spend the money now on a comprehensive travel insurance package now than to take the risk and pay later. Although the you my be lucky enough to never need baggage cover or medical treatment, when it comes to a holiday crisis, prevention is better than cure.
