For many students, school ends this week and for teenagers, who are planning to travel without their parents, a warning to certify that they have travel insurance is being stated by the insurance provider Swiftcover.
According to the firm, up to 100,000 teenager, put themselves at risk by not taking out travel insurance, before they go away on their journeys.
Tina Shortle, the site's marketing manager, warned that teens travelling without insurance could end up making a costly mistake.
She said: "Because of their age and new found freedom, fledgling holiday makers can be one of the most at risk groups. We are encouraging teens to be prepared and stay safe so their holiday can be one to remember for all the right reasons."
Teenagers are being advised to avoid placing themselves in dangerous situations or extreme sports, abide by the laws within the countries they visit and also to use sun protection, if they are travelling to hot places.
Moreover, Jacqui Jedrzejewski of NHS Direct advised young travellers, to pack a first aid kit, filled with essentials such as plasters, scissors, antiseptic cream and laxatives.
