New figures show that a third of adults who are in debt are worried about their money. According to the MoneyExpert.com Debt Index 3 million people are very concerned about how to mange their finances.
"The fact that one in three people who owe money are concerned or very concerned about their ability to manage their debts is worrying.
"The interest rate cuts in December and this month will help, but it remains the case that borrowers have to take action themselves," said Sean Gardner, chief executive of MoneyExpert.com to the Guardian.
One explanation to the worries is the Christmas spending. In December 7 per cent more adults than usual had outstanding debts. Another explanation is the credit crunch which has made it difficult for people to pay of mortgages or, in case of buying, to find cheap mortgage deals.
But not everyone in debt worries. As many as 41 per cent said they were not worried at all about their debts.
