A study by the House of Commons has suggested that in order to prevent younger people from “killing themselves and other people” the legal driving age should be pushed up from 17 to 18 years of age.
The report itself was released by the transport committee who also hinted that drivers who had recently passed their driving test should be prohibited from having passengers between the ages of 10 and 20 late at night.
Also, that those learning take the course of a year to do so. The current situation allows training to be finished in 30 weeks, and with prices as much as £30 an hour, more younger drivers or their minders are having to take out car loans to fund their lessons.
Government figures show a third of all deaths on the road are due to drivers aged from 17 to 25, although drivers this age only make up one in eight license holders.
