With the time of year fast approaching Mothers Day, a leading life insurer has warned women that they need to prepare their finances properly in case of a tragedy.
Legal and General said that the work the average mum does around the house and raising children is worth over £36,000 per year, which is greater than the median income in the UK. This makes it especially vital that mum's make sure they make sure they get a life insurance policy that will fully cover their families needs.
Worryingly though, the results of a Legal and General survey found that only 53% of mothers had taken out any life insurance and only 26% had any critical illness cover.
"Life insurance and critical illness cover can help provide peace of mind that a family could maintain its living standards if Mum wasn't around.” Said Alan Ferguson, protection marketing and channel development director for Legal & General.
