Smoking is on the decline in much of the western world including the UK and joining the ranks of non-smokers could also save you money on your life insurance.
Although the cost of life insurance has dropped across the board over the last decade, the recent financial difficulties could see insurance companies raising fees for those deemed a high risk. At the moment if you are classified as a smoker on your insurance you are liable to pay almost double that of a non-smoker.
Many smokers attempt to get around the premium by hiding their habit but this is an incredibly risky move. Many companies will request a saliva test for proof that you haven't smoked in the last 12 months. If you fail the test or if your smoking is discovered during the application process there is a high probability that you will be rejected outright and will be unable to secure a policy.
With smoking now being banned in public places and numerous services available to help you quit, now would be an idea time to think about giving up for good.
