Medibank Private is to launch its new national scheme for life insurance following the 12 month pilot programme which has turned out to be very successful.

Medibank is Australia’s largest private health insurer and stated that it will focus initially on cross-selling life insurance packages to its three million members. This life insurance product is the result of the company’s diversification plan.

Medibank Private managing director George Savvides stated: “Medibank Private’s core focus will continue to be private health insurance but we will always explore opportunities to improve value for members.”

The product will also be available to non members. The company has also sold travel insurance since 2005.
