Having life insurance for years has been a necessity. It will protect family or dependants in the event of death, it protect inheritance, and covers illness.

However, a third of people haven’t put such insurances in place. Reasons cited for this range from the simple, ‘still on the to do list’, to the lack of it’s importance.

A fifth of these people are not life insured because they feel they have no dependents, ore feel it is only important when they have a mortgage. Three percent do not have cover because of a lack of understanding of the various life insurance products floating around. Such findings are a cause for concern. 52 percent of UK adults have no life insurance cover.

The rest are either underinsured or unsure of what cover suits them. Many wait until a particular event such as a mortgage (44percent), wedlock (13percent) or the birth of a child before considering life insurance. Divorce or separation influences 14percent of those buying life insurance to get protection.

This should not be the case. Life insurance should be considered no matter what circumstance you are in. especially if you are below the age of retirement.
