So many life insurance options exist that professional advice is often needed, Libra Financial Planning said yesterday.
Libra's comments apply especially to term life assurance - a life insurance policy which provides financial cover in the event of death.
Otherwise known as critical illness cover, policies vary hugely because a very wide selection of different deadly illnesses could be covered.
A Libra spokesman used an illustrative example to demonstrate his point: "If you are a single male or female, and you have just bought your first house, you don't necessarily need life insurance - because if you die, it just passes on to your estate, and you may want to have an income protection plan or critical illness cover," he said.
"It can be a complicated area and I think that advice is always for the best
It is just about fitting the right product to the right scenario."
The life assurance industry in the UK appears to be on the rise: statistics released by lifesearch.co.uk relating to the 2006 period show business in the sector growing by 18 per cent over the previous year.
