A new insurance policy product aimed at people who run a business from home has been launched by Direct Line.
The cover will contain public and product liability, including a number of optional add-ons such as theft or accidental damage to items like mobile phones, laptops or other electrical equipment. A free 24 hour advice line has also been unveiled, offering emergency assistance and legal advice.
The brand ‘Direct Line for Business’ launched a number of products last autumn and have now added the home insurance policy to its portfolio, with plans to introduce insurance for small offices, hotels and pubs in the spring.
Direct Line for Business spokeswoman, Kate Syred said, “Providing insurance for people that run their business from home is a natural extension to the existing Direct Line product range. Many people are unaware of their liability to their clients for the products and services they provide or the impact if the business is interrupted due to an incident in the home. Direct Line’s home business insurance is available to people direct. The product itself is flexible and represents good value for money whilst meeting the individuals’ needs.”
