Insurance - Valuables may require individual insurance - 28/02/2008

uSwitch.com has revealed that consumers with valuable property or possessions should seek specialist insurers to cover their top-end goods.

Standard policies do offer good protection for the majority of circumstances, although they do not always cover customers for individual expensive items that may be lost, damaged or stolen.

An example of this is jewellery, consumers can seek specialist valuation and insurance for expensive jewellery items, which will cover repair, loss, damage and theft to the items.

It has also been advised by uSwitch.com that an individual insurance policy may be necessary for particularly expensive items instead of a generic policy such as contents insurance. Sentimental value often plays a part in expensive jewellery, so it is important that items such as your engagement and wedding ring are covered fully by your policy.

Mainstream insurers do not always offer such specific polices, there are, however, a number of specialist insurers who will cater for your specific needs.
