If you need to make a claim you should notify your insurance provider as soon as possible. If your claims are the result of burglary you will need to provide the case number given by the police.
For any claim over £1,000 your home insurance provider will usually send a loss adjustor, who is a third party investigator there to ensure you followed all the rules of your policy. In addition, you can hire your own third party, loss assessor, to represent your interests.
Be entirely honest with your insurance provider and give them all the information they ask for. You will not be covered and can be prosecuted for fraud if you falsify a claim.
