February has seen a multitude of extreme weather conditions sweep across Britain, so taking out home insurance has never been more essential. This is certainly the view of the Post Office, a spokesman for which noted that as well as buildings cover it is vital to take out adequate contents insurance.
Emma Baunach, the Post office’s home insurance manager made clear that choosing the right cover could have drastic consequences in the event of a flood or heavy snow. She noted that already in February there have been over 100 separate flood warnings after the heaviest rain in nearly two decades.
“There is always risk of property damage from adverse weather, but recent events highlight how important it is to have the right level of cover in place to protect both your home and your belongings,” said Baunach.
“Whilst most contents policies will cover you for household items, it is essential that you know what your contents limit is and notify your insurer if you have any items that exceed this,” she added.
