Homeowners have been urged to protect all valuable contents in the home, no matter how exotic, different or unusual they may be.
Research on home insurance policies has revealed that some owners refuse to cover some possessions due to their unique weirdness.
Some of these items include a crocodile skull, a £10,000 collection of meteorites, a 25 lb stuffed and mounted salmon, a magic lantern and £3,000 worth of lace bobbins. All of which can still be covered on contents insurance.
Darren Black from a insurance comparison website said: "Some of the more unusual items will often be more sentimental than expensive, but it is always worth protecting them from damage, as well as from theft."
