A DIY school is providing the opportunity for women to learn home improvement skills, claiming that it is observing a higher percentage of female customers, than it has ever seen before. The school based in Stockport, was set up a year ago by residential property developers who go by the name of Andy Gerrard and Simon Bessell.
The increasing number of people, who want to learn how to carry out home improvement works, are greeting the business with open arms and due to this, it is estimated that turnover will be up to as much as £250,000, within the first twelve months.
Home insurance customers in particular would be interested to know that the school conducts courses in a variety of DIY skills, such as decorating and plastering, tiling, how to use a drill, bleed a radiator and fix a leaking tap. Mr Gerrard had this to say “Our experience tells us that women are exceptional learners, coming with little ego to hamper them and an acceptance that they have come to learn. Men are often encouraged into getting on with it when they see their female colleagues forging ahead to produce exceptional work.”
He further stated that once they had learned the skills taught by the school, they will find that they can save both time and money on home insurance, as they would no longer need the services of tradesmen.
