Home insurance gap found by website - 20/03/2008

One in four Britons do not have sufficient home insurance contents cover, according to Confused.com.
The website has warned of this big shortfall in the run-up to the Easter weekend, which will see many British homes being particularly vulnerable to burglary, with many planning mini-breaks over the four days off work.
Accordingly, Confused.com is advising householders to check their home insurance policies in order that they do not risk being left out of pocket.
Shopping around for the best value home insurance policy also came highly recommended.
Managing director at Confused.com Debra Williams commented: "Contents insurance is not a legal requirement, but should really be considered an absolute necessity - many people decide against contents cover without considering the potential pitfalls involved.
"Even the most obvious precautions, such as remembering not to 'advertise' your new plasma screen TV by leaving the box outside your front door, or remembering to properly lock up when leaving the home, can sometimes fall by the wayside."
She added: "It is for this reason that belongings need to be adequately covered."
