If you have ever knocked over a treasured ornament or spilt red wine on your cream carpet you will know that it can be expensive to have things fixed. It is said that the home is an Englishman’s castle and with the average home owner spending over three thousand pounds every year on home improvements, it seems we want our castles to look good.
Unfortunately statistics show that those who carry out the home improvements themselves are more likely to cause more damage. One survey reported that 25% of people have spilt paint on the carpet whilst redecorating, whilst 40% of people have admitted to breaking furniture whilst carrying out DIY. What you may not be aware of is that some home insurance policies provide cover for accidental damage.
This means that if something does get broken or stained you may be able to make a claim to on your insurance to rectify the accident, saving you the trouble of doing it yourself.
