Health Insurance - Small business, big premium - 17/11/2008

There have been a number of murmurings in the small business sector of America, they have been watching their premiums rise at a rapid rate. Perhaps it is because they are presenting fewer numbers to the health broker and thus are unable to get as good a deal as some of the larger corporations. Recently the murmurings appeared to be getting louder as the steady increases suddenly became jumps and for some their health coverage premiums were quite literally leaping out of their reach of affordability.

E.CAB is a firm that produces the fixtures and finishes for lift interiors and after thankfully seeing no increases to their health insurance premiums last year suddenly watched is jump by 75 per cent a month. That would mean passing these hard hitting price increases to their employees which would translate into $6,800 per month price tag for health coverage. Daniel Lance the owner of E.CAB commented that they simply couldn’t pass such an increase unto their customers and that things couldn’t continue along this vein because the “market just won't bear it.”
