With the recession biting hard, over a third of Brits wish they had been more responsible with money, according to a recent survey by Simplyhealth's Bothered Britain Report.
Findings from the report found that a third (36%) of those surveyed are unhappy with how they have managed their money in the past, an issue that is more concerning to them than health issues and spending time with their families.
The survey indicated that consumers are showing marked behavioural changes when it comes to financial factors, due to the onset of the recession.
The study also indicated that those with money problems might in future be more conscientious about their spending in an attempt to avoid falling into debt.
"The recession has made people re-evaluate their priorities in life and what is important to them," said Raman Sankaran from Simplyhealth.
"With job insecurity rife across all industries, it is no surprise that people regret being careless with money," he said.
Northern cities such as Glasgow, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Norwich and Manchester were named as the most frivolous locations in Britain by the report.
