Debt - Debt collectors need to care - 01/06/2008

A Glasgow based credit management group is currently recruiting caring new debt collectors to add to its team.

The company, BCW group, needs more debt collectors, but feels that debt collection needs a new face and is looking for friendly charismatic people with a conscience who can take the pain out of repossession.

The firm specialises in recovering debts for banks and local authorities and focuses a lot of their work on managing and discussing debt before it reaches the repossession stage.

However, all too often, repossession is the only answer and BCW is clearly seeing a rise in the number of repossessions as they are looking to recruit around ten more debt collection staff for the Glasgow city area.

In their advert they specify that they are looking for workers with “a patient, positive attitude.” A spokesman said that they wish to make the debt collection business as painless and friendly as possible.

However, many feel that this is an unrealistic goal and that debt collectors need to be hard nosed in order to do their job properly.

Perhaps all they will achieve by recruiting debt collectors with 'a conscience' is twice the amount of distress as debt collectors with a heart may find it very hard to do their job.
