As any motorist will have noticed, petrol prices are soaring high at the moment, leaving many dreading the day when they have to fill up the car.
Record prices have been reached, leaving many struggling to keep up with the cost of running their car. Coupled with all the other increasing costs which we are facing, many are finding it difficult to meet everyday household costs.
However, officials have suggested that the ideal solution to saving money on petrol is to use the right credit card.
There are a number of credit cards out there which offer fuel incentives and many experts have recommended them as money saving devices, confirming that they offer good rates in addition to attractive fuel incentives.
Shell and Asda both have credit cards avaliable which offer petrol related incentives, which could help motorists to save pounds on the cost of fuel. The Shell MasterCard offers a 3% rebate on petrol purchases from Shell stations, as well as a 1% rebate on other purchases and 0% interest for twelve months on balance transfers.
The Asda credit cards meanwhile, offers a rebate of two pence per litre of fuel for those filling up at Asda stations with their credit card, plus 0% interest on balance transfers for nine months.
One expert was quoted as saying that: ‘Rebates for both cards have to be redeemed in a Shell or Asda petrol station respectively. However, in today’s market, even a small saving can make a big difference, so consumers should be looking for any opportunity to relieve their money pressures.’
For those who use their credit card regularly anyway, this looks like a good opportunity to make a few extra savings. However, as always with credit cards which offer incentives, be sure to pay off your balance each month in order to avoid charges and make the most of the savings.
