Halifax launched its new credit card today, which offers extended periods of zero per cent interest.
The card features zero per cent on balance transfers for 13 months - and zero per cent on purchases for 6 months.
However, the card also holds a three per cent balance transfer fee - and reverts to a typical APR of 15.9 per cent following the initial period.
Nevertheless, the credit card provider claims that the zero per cent offer could save customers £114 over the 13 months.
This is calculated from the average UK outstanding credit card balance of £1,859 - and assumes that the debt holder is currently on the common card rate of 17.9 per cent APR.
Head of Halifax card services Ken Stannard commented: "Once again Halifax is offering the most competitive credit card deal on the high street.
"For many, New Year is a time to organise their finances and by consolidating more expensive debt, such as store cards on to a new Halifax Plus Credit Card, the average credit cardholder could save well in excess of £100."
