Credit Cards - Nationwide credit card users provided with extended warranty - 30/04/2008

Customers can be provided with greater protection on the products they buy, after Nationwide Building Society, announced that it will provide increased warranties on products that their credit card users buy.

In the past an extended warranty, which is one year on top of the manufacturer warranty, was available on some items including televisions, washing machines, dishwashers, and ovens. However, it has now been extended to a range of other products including camcorders, DVDs, Freeview boxes, home cinema systems, MP3 and MP4 players and other household goods.

An official from the Nationwide, stated that consumers could really benefit from this extended warranty and said: “Any Nationwide credit card holder who uses their credit card to purchase an electrical item for use within their home, can receive a year’s extended warranty cover free of charge - simply by registering it. We have recently improved the range of items that can be covered, to include newer technologies such IPODS, MP3 and MP4 players, Home Cinema Systems and Freeview boxes - which previously weren’t covered.”

Customers will need to make the purchases on their credit card and will need to register their products registered for the extended warranty to be put into place.
