Credit card companies and lenders are taking a strong stance against people who are late with payments by black listing them for future loans and credit.
Personal data is being scrutinised more then ever by lenders with slight missed payments, which a year ago would have had little effect on a credit rating, now being used to deny people credit.
Lenders can now access the details of a persons' mobile phone bill, mail-order account and overdraft facility. They are even in a position to see if rental payments are made on time. Any cross appearing against one of these could affect a credit rating and leave it ever more difficult to obtain loans.
Credit card companies though, are not yet allowed to see a customer's council tax record or utility bills, but due to the cost of these services, it is expected by credit reference agencies, that both of these could start showing up on their records.
