Recent statistics show that potholes are costing the average British motorist £1 million every day.
Figures show that out of 50,000 live car insurance policies, the average driver would have to shell out £240 a time to repair damage made to their car as a direct consequence of potholes.
A spokesman for the Local Government Association commented, ‘‘We estimate the total cost to repair all the potholes across England approaches £1 billion.’ To go out and fix all the potholes would be hard in a time of recession, when increasing Council Tax will not be popular."
