Younger motorists have been given advice on how they can lower their car insurance policies. A general insurance specialist has stated that young drivers can do a number of things that can reduce their insurance premiums that they pay.
Malcolm Tarling of the Association of British Insurers (ABI) suggested that first-time drivers should opt for cheaper cars, as insurance companies, will take into account the price of the car.
He said "Be sensible there is no point spending all your money on the car of your dreams if you can't afford to run it and if you can't afford to insure it."
Mr Tarling also added that although younger drivers will have to pay higher premium costs, in comparison to older and more experienced drivers, they should shop around for the most convenient and cost effective deals.
Insurance providers can give a lower policy price of the driver agrees to no driving during the night, or taking a PassPlus course, or another post-driving training course.
Young drivers, have also been advised to apply online for insurance premiums as this ensures that their details are correct on the form. Many insurers apply fees of up to £25 if they need to make amendments to the policy holder’s details.
