In spite of the fact that a relatively high number of motorists in the UK are often violating traffic rules, many do not know that traffic offences could negatively impact on their car insurance.
This discovery was made in a recent study by an insurance company.
Up to 65 per cent of participants in the survey admitted to not knowing that traffic violations could invalidate their car insurance, while more than 82 per cent do not consider checking how this could affect their insurance policy before taking out the cover.
The survey also found that only three per cent of respondent had received a driving ban despite the high level of motoring offences.
Among the offences commonly committed, according to the poll, are exceeding speed limit, which was admitted to by 79 per cent, illegal use of mobile phones whilst driving, committed by 66 per cent, and driving through a red light, which 18 per cent admitted to committing.
Other offences include failing to indicate and parking on a double yellow line, even for a brief period of time.
