The number of green car insurance providers, has been on the increase for a number of years. As customers continue to pursue more environmentally friendly measures, where their cars are involved, a recent study has shown the changes that motorists are making.
Motorists’ green-eyed view has even affected the type of cars, they choose to buy, according to a study by Experian, the global information service. British motorist, prefer to buy environmentally friendly cars, with 26 per cent stating that the ‘green credentials’ of a car would affect their decision on purchasing a car or not.
The study also stated that female drivers are more concerned, about the effects their vehicles have on the environment. Also noted was the fact that motorists, who change their cars more frequently, will be more conscience of their carbon-footprint, when they go to buy a new vehicle, than drivers who keep their cars for longer periods.
Kirk Fletcher, managing director of Experian's Automotive division, said: "Our research shows that the environment is clearly becoming a bigger concern for car owners. In our opinion, this is more likely to continue to grow rather than diminish and needs to be factored into the sales process.
"A car is the second biggest purchase a person is likely to make after a buying a house and customers concerned about the environment will have a lot of questions to ask before they make their final decision to buy. Dealers need to have this information to hand to enhance the possibility of a sale."
